Selena Gomez is hinting at a major shift in her career, and it might not be what fans were hoping for. After her experience filming 'Emilia Pérez', the singer and actress revealed that returning to music will be very hard for her. While Gomez has built a successful career in both acting and music, it seems her passion is now leaning more toward the screen rather than the studio.

This news may come as a disappointment to fans eagerly awaiting new music, especially after the success of her recent singles, and even a Grammy nomination for her fourth EP, Revelación for Best Latin Pop Album in 2022. However, Gomez has made it clear that Emilia Pérez was a transformative chapter in her career, and she appears more focused than ever on taking on new acting challenges.

No plans to return to the studio anytime soon

Selena Gomez dropped “Love On” in February 2024 following 2023 hits “Single Soon” and “Calm Down". And after more than a year on hiatus and with no hints of dropping new music, it looks like acting is her priority now.

"I think film and art-making and being around such incredible, talented people that have done nothing but uplift me along the way... I don't know," Gomez shared during a moderated conversation with Dave Karger at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival at California. "It's going to be very hard for me to ever go back to music after this."
