Ryu Hayabusa returns in style with Ninja Gaiden 4, a highly anticipated title led by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames. This historic collaboration is set to launch in fall 2025 for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass. Announced during the Xbox Developer Direct, one of the first major gaming industry events of the year, this game aims to become one of the top action titles of 2025.

What’s the Story of Ninja Gaiden 4 about?

Ninja Gaiden 4 plunges players into a completely devastated Tokyo, following the black rot storm unleashed by the Black Dragon. Players take on the role of Yakumo, a young ninja from the Raven Clan, rivals of the Hayabusa Clan, who sets out to defeat the Black Dragon and restore peace to the world. The saga's signature dark and intense atmosphere is preserved, with exceptional attention to detail in a game where blood and dismemberment take center stage.

The Great Return of a Legend

PlatinumGames’ and Team Ninja’s signature styles are showcased in the game’s trailer, blending action-packed sequences reminiscent of NieR: Automata with classic 3D gameplay that fans of Ryu Hayabusa know and love.

In addition to the much-awaited Ninja Gaiden 4, the series will also see the release of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a remastered version of the 2008 classic originally launched for Xbox 360. 2025 promises to be a landmark year for the franchise, which will also debut Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound this summer.

As previously mentioned, Ninja Gaiden 4 will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one and will launch on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5. This instalment marks the saga’s return after 13 years, following the last release in 2012. Players will take control of both the legendary Ryu Hayabusa and Yakumo, a new protagonist who must carve his own path as a ninja.
