In recent weeks, the frenzy for Pokémon trading cards has reached unprecedented levels, prompting Costco to implement strict measures to regulate their sale. Videos and photos circulating on social media highlight the lengths shoppers are willing to go to acquire these sought-after collectibles.

Euphoria Leads to Chaos Over Pokémon Cards

Pokémon fans have flocked to Costco stores in droves to purchase collectible cards, but the excitement has escalated into chaos. Social media posts reveal instances of physical altercations, including shoving and even punches, as customers compete to secure these items.

The commotion begins even before Costco stores open their doors. Videos show large crowds anxiously waiting in line, eager for the moment employees unlock the entrances. On Reddit, a user shared images of a fight between two men vying for collectible cards, underscoring the intensity of the situation.

Costco Introduces Limits to Prevent Incidents

To curb such incidents, Costco has imposed a strict limit of two card sets per customer. Additionally, the store has taken precautions to secure the cards, reducing the likelihood of further violence. Each set contains 150 collectible pieces and is priced at approximately $45.

A Reddit user shared an image of a sign posted in-store, clearly outlining the purchase limit for customers. This measure aims to ensure a fair distribution and prevent collectors from monopolizing the inventory.

This isn’t the first time Costco has implemented restrictions on Pokemon merchandise. During the last Black Friday, the wholesale chain limited the purchase of Pokemon mini tins to three per customer, signaling a growing need for such measures as demand continues to surge.
