In a move to rejuvenate its coffeehouse culture, Starbucks is reintroducing several in-store features that were paused during the pandemic. Starting January 27, 2025, customers opting to enjoy their beverages on-site will have their drinks served in ceramic mugs or glassware. This initiative not only aims to reduce waste but also encourages patrons to linger and savor their coffeehouse experience.
Additionally, Starbucks is bringing back the self-serve condiment bar, allowing customers to personalize their drinks with various creamers, milks, and sweeteners. This change is designed to enhance customer satisfaction and streamline service efficiency.

Key Changes to Starbucks' In-Store Experience
Free Refills for 'For Here' Orders
Customers who choose to stay in the café can now enjoy free refills of brewed coffee and tea during their visit. To qualify, the initial beverage must be ordered as a "for here" drink and served in a ceramic mug, glass, or a personal reusable cup. It's important to note that this offer excludes certain beverages such as Cold Brew, Nitro Cold Brew, Iced Tea Lemonade, flavored Iced Tea, and Starbucks Refreshers.
Reinstated Coffeehouse Code of Conduct
To maintain a welcoming and safe environment, Starbucks has updated its Coffeehouse Code of Conduct. As of January 27, patrons are required to make a purchase to use café seating areas, restrooms, and patios. The code also prohibits smoking, vaping, alcohol consumption, and any form of harassment within the premises. These measures aim to prioritize the comfort and safety of both customers and staff.
These initiatives are part of Starbucks' broader strategy to enhance the in-store experience, encouraging customers to relax and enjoy their time within the café. By reintroducing familiar amenities and implementing new policies, the company seeks to foster a sense of community and sustainability in its coffeehouses.
