Like many migrants, a Mexican woman and her husband moved to the United States with the dream of building a better future. The couple lived there for six years, during which their twin sons were born. However, one day, after an argument, a neighbor reported her undocumented status to the authorities, altering her fate forever. She was deported.

"I immigrated to the United States six years ago with my husband. Back then, we didn’t have children; we were young," the woman began explaining in a TikTok video. Like many others, they arrived with high hopes of "creating a better life."

"She always helped me when I needed her"

During her time in the U.S., the woman gave birth to twins. "I had them in the United States, but unfortunately, I won’t be able to get them back until they reach adulthood," she explained. Through tears, she recounted how, after living with her husband and children for six years, she was deported to her home country. A neighbor, with whom she had once been friends, was the one responsible for her return to Mexico.

The woman, whose name wasn't disclosed, shared that during her stay in the U.S., she became actively involved in her community. One of her closest bonds was with a neighbor. "We became very close friends. She always helped me when I needed her, and I helped her too," she said. However, she noted that their relationship took a sudden turn: "She started to act differently, and that’s when the problems began," she recounted. Their disagreements started over minor issues involving their children. "She would argue and yell at me over trivial things. She even complained about anything my children did," she added.

What led to the report and her deportation?

The conflict between the neighbors escalated after a fight involving their children. "She pushed my child, and I was so angry that I pushed her back, grabbed my child, and went into my house," she recalled. However, the incident didn’t end there. She explained that they later exchanged messages via WhatsApp, during which she warned her neighbor: "If you lay a hand on my son again, you don’t know what I’m capable of. Watch out for your own."

Two days later, the neighbor showed up at her door with the police. "I was taken into custody for allegedly threatening her child’s life," she said. Following her arrest, she was handed over to immigration authorities and deported. "I was detained for a while and then sent back to my country," she recounted. Since returning to Mexico, she has been separated from her children, who remain with their father in the U.S. She knows she will not see them again until they reach adulthood.
